Lots of things going on to get ready for Thanksgiving. With a limited player pool and some friendly pricing on a couple of the regular DFS sites, playing on DRAFT can be a nice alternative. This won't be as long as my usual articles but will hopefully give you enough information to do well.
I prefer to draft last this week. I think the top 3 options are Kirk Cousins, Melvin Gordon, and Keenan Allen. Drafting 2nd guarantees me two of the three in H2H. If drafting first, I'm taking Gordon due to a lack of depth at the position. Plus, Dallas does allow over 24 fantasy points to running backs this season. Kirk Cousins gets a Giants defense that has been the 2nd most generous to quarterbacks this season and is the QB of the highest projected team total on this slate. Keenan Allen has seen double-digit targets most week, when not facing an elite defense. Dallas is the 6th most generous team in giving up fantasy points to WR.
After these three, I may focus on running backs. Samaje Perine is the lone healthy running back who started the season with the Redskins. Though he's ranked low on DRAFT, he's my 2nd RB of choice. Alfred Morris had 90 yards on the ground last week and the Chargers do give up over 26 points a game on the ground to running backs. You can fill in the other RB2 spot with some combination of Jerrick McKinnon, Latavius Murray, and Orleans Darkwa.
I would go after the pass catchers next. I'm going to try to avoid Dez Bryant and Marvin Jones at all costs. Bryant should see a lot of Casey Heyward, the #1 CB according to Pro Football Focus. Marvin Jones may see a lot of Xavier Rhodes and Detroit has traditionally not scored many points against the Vikings. Instead, I can go to Golden Tate out of the slot, who should be able to put up 10 points in this matchup. But, the best receivers are on the opposite side with Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. Thielen has scored each of the past three weeks and has been near or over 100 yards in each of those games. Diggs has had success against Detroit in the past, with 12.3 points being his worst fantasy output in three career games. Finally, I may look at the tight ends in the nightcap, as Washington and New York both struggle against tight ends. Evan Engram should be the primary receiver for the Giants, while Vernon Davis gets the best matchup a tight end can have.
Finally, the quarterbacks. I'm starting to get onto Philip Rivers more as the week goes on. I don't think he has the upside of Cousins, but should have a high enough floor in this matchup that he can do well. Case Keenum would be my other option, throwing to Thielen and Diggs, facing a mediocre Lions defense. If Tyron Smith is back, and it looks like he will be, I could take a chance on Dak Prescott. Matthew Stafford has not had huge games historically against Minnesota, so he will be a pass for me. Eli Manning is one I rarely take, though he has had good games against Washington, and may throw a lot.
I wouldn't go crazy on this 3-game slate, since there will be some variance. But, it's a good time to introduce this to a family member, and have some fun all day watching the games. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
