Happy Thanksgiving Ladies & Bros!
Happy Thanksgiving Ladies & Bros!
My most memorable Turkey day football moment came back in 2001, when a family full of Rutgers fans watched Scarlet Knight great Mike McMahon almost lead the winless Lions to their first victory of the season against the heavily favored Green Bay Packers.
Sixteen years later, the only Rutgers player being represented on Thanksgiving is Lions LB Steve Longa who had three tackles in last week's victory over Chicago. But you know how we do in DFS: We focus on the offense and this week we're selecting two guys from the teams with the highest team totals on the three game slate:
Washington Redskins: Projected Team Total 26
-7.5 favorite vs NYG, O/U 44.5
QB Kirk Cousins
($8800 on Fanduel, $7100 on DraftKings)
I'm a little surprised Fanduel has Cousins only the second highest priced QB after Prescott but even with Tyron Smith back on the OL for Dallas I'm targeting Cousins in my lineups as he's been a fantasy stud and he's got a great matchup against the NYG defense. Captain Kirk has the second most amount of 20+ yard completions while the Giants have surrendered the third most 20+ yard completions. New York also has surrendered a tie for the third most passing TDs (20). Cousins also only trails Tom Brady and Russell Wilson in terms of passing yards this year overall. You know what to do, start your lineups with Cousins, as I think he'll come back strong and with ferocity when many feel the team might still be reeling from the devastating loss in New Orleans Sunday.
WR Josh Doctson
($6600 on Fanduel, $4700 on DraftKings)
He's getting the snaps on the field as well as getting targeted (7 in each of the last two games, catching four in respective losses to Minnesota and New Orleans). Terrelle Pryor is no longer in his way and it's time to fire up the 2nd year player out of TCU who could catch one of those aforementioned 20+ yard passes from Kirk early and often.
Los Angeles Chargers: Projected Team Total 24.5
-1 favorite @ Dallas, O/U 47.5
RB Melvin Gordon
($8400 on Fanduel, $8100 on DraftKings)
Gordon is the highest priced RB on both sites and is someone you should be paying up for on a short slate. Dallas surrenders T-4th most rushing yards per carry at 4.6 and will be missing Sean Lee once again due to a hamstring injury. We're not worried about Austin Ekeler, Gordon got 20 carries last week and hasn't seen less than double digits since Week 2.
TE Hunter Henry
($5400 on Fanduel, $3300 on Draftkings)
This pick is more about the salary relief, as Henry allows you to get studs in your lineup while still having access to a potent offense with a favorable matchup. Henry did see 5 targets in the blowout win vs Buffalo and the skillset is there. Cowboys aren't anything great against the TE either and it's not like we really have to worry about Antonio Gates who hasn't topped 30 yards receiving in a game all year.
Minnesota Vikings: Projected Team Total 23.75
-3 favorite @ Detroit, O/U 44.5
WR Adam Thielen
($8300 on Fanduel, $7600 on Draftkings)
I'm not going on a huge limb telling you to play the top priced RB (Gordon) and WR in Thielen, but when you've got a three game slate you have to play the best guys and Adam Thielen is one of the best players in the entire league. Another week went by where Thielen had 5+ catches, he's the only WR in the league that has at least 5 catches in every game so far this season. Case Keenum is showing ability to evade sacks and he's looking at Thielen the most out of any pass catcher in this offense by a good amount. Plus I think Diggs will see Darius Slay more than Thielen will so fire up the Minnesota-Mankato grad with confidence
RB Jerick McKinnon
($6200 on Fanduel, $5200 on Draftkings)
He's cheaper than his teammate Murray on Fanduel, more expensive on the full point DraftKings, but if I'm picking on both sites I prefer Jerick who has 5+ catches in four out of the last six weeks. Lions can be had against pass catching RBs, allowing the sixth most amount of catches to the position. McKinnon outsnapped Lat Pull Downs Murray last week despite Murray running for more yards and I think is the higher ceiling play in the first game of Thanksgiving.
