The season-opening event for the past few years, the Safeway Open is now the third event of the Fall Swing, but bring a nice field to Napa Valley. As you can see with the course ranks above, it is not an overly difficult course by PGA Tour standards and we can probably expect another -2 or -3 cut this week. While there are plenty of good names at the top, perhaps the player I'm most curious to see what the industry is doing with is Brendan Steele. He won in 2016 and 2017 here, after a few Top 25s at this event. His form hasn't been great as of late, but is showing some signs of coming back into some form. With stats, I'm looking at the usual ones: Approach, GIR, and the scoring stats. Six of the ten Par 4s are from 400-450 yards, and with four Par 5s, those are my hole targets. But it's nice to see a good field in the Fall Swing and I'm ready to break down this field with James Adams on Tuesday Night.
